July 17 2003 - US Airways will begin service on four new Caribbean routes beginning in December 2003, further expanding options for customers to reach the airline's 25 destinations in the region.

Service between Philadelphia and Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands will begin on Dec. 13, 2003, along with Philadelphia-Cozumel and Charlotte-St. Kitts service. Charlotte-Antigua service will begin on Feb. 14, 2004. All new service will operate on Saturdays only using Airbus A320-family aircraft, and is subject to foreign government approval.

"These new routes provide our customers with additional access to the Caribbean, not just from Charlotte and Philadelphia, but throughout our system via convenient connections," said Douglas D. Leo, US Airways vice president of international.

US Airways will add flights between Charlotte and Mexico City starting Oct. 26, 2003, and between San Jose, Costa Rica, and both Charlotte and Philadelphia on Nov. 8, 2003.

US Airways also announced today that it will begin nonstop service between New York's LaGuardia airport and San Juan, Puerto Rico, effective Dec. 13, 2003.

US Airways will operate nonstop roundtrip flights on this route each Saturday, using 120-seat Airbus A319 aircraft. Flights will depart New York at 9:30 a.m., and will arrive in San Juan at 2:23 p.m. Return flights will depart San Juan at 3:30 p.m., and will arrive in New York at 6:33 p.m.

"San Juan and New York are key cities and integral to our Caribbean network," said Douglas D. Leo, US Airways vice president of international. "We are pleased to link these business and leisure markets for our customers in both communities."

US Airways currently operates twice-daily service to San Juan from Charlotte, N.C., with an additional frequency on Saturday and Sunday. Philadelphia-San Juan service operates three times each day, with four frequencies on Saturday. US Airways also serves San Juan with Saturday and Sunday service from both Boston and Pittsburgh.
